Alabama Landowners: September 25 Deadline for FY2027 Conservation Funding

What is happening?

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Alabama has announced a September 25, 2026 signup deadline for the first round of Fiscal Year 2027 conservation financial assistance.

Applications are accepted throughout the year, but applications submitted by September 25 will be considered in the first FY2027 funding round. Applications received after that date may be held for later funding consideration if funds remain available.

The announcement applies to several NRCS conservation programs serving agricultural producers, landowners and eligible private forest land.

Which programs are included?

The September 25 deadline applies to:

• Agricultural Conservation Easement Program — Wetland Reserve Easements (ACEP-WRE)
• Agricultural Conservation Easement Program — Agricultural Land Easements (ACEP-ALE)
• Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP)
• Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
• EQIP — Joint Chiefs' Landscape Restoration Partnership Program (EQIP-JCLRPP)

These programs can provide technical or financial assistance for conservation practices and, depending on the program, conservation easements.

Through the Alabama Chattahoochee Fall Line Restoring Longleaf project, eligible private landowners in Bullock, Macon and Russell counties may be able to receive cost-share assistance for prescribed burning, longleaf pine planting and mid-rotation longleaf pine timber-stand improvements.
