The history
A Loss That Shaped Generations
For more than a century, Black families in America have experienced one of the most profound losses of generational wealth in our nation's history.
Since 1910, more than 12 million acres of Black-owned farmland have disappeared. That land did not simply vanish. It was lost through heirs' property, broken titles, tax sales, predatory practices, and the absence of trusted guidance at the moments when families needed it most.
Behind every acre lost is a family story — of grandparents who worked the soil, of heirs scattered across states, of properties divided until they became unmanageable, and of decisions made without the benefit of preparation or counsel.
This history is not abstract. It lives in the stories families still tell at reunions, in the documents they cannot find, and in the anxiety they feel when they realize no one has a clear plan for the land that holds their name.
The inspiration
From Listening to Action
This history inspired the creation of Keziah LandBridge, an initiative established to address the historic loss of Black-owned family land by building practical pathways for stewardship, ownership, and generational continuity.
Through years of listening to families, working alongside community leaders, and studying the complex challenges of heirs' property and succession planning, a clear need emerged. Families did not lack land. They lacked a trusted guide.
That vision became ACRES KEPT — a mission-driven technology platform and private stewardship network designed to meet families where they are, guide them with patience, and help them make informed decisions that honor both their legacy and their future.
Where we stand today
A Foundation That Reaches Further
Preserving Black family land remains the foundational mission of ACRES KEPT. It is why we began, and it is a commitment we will never leave behind.
In pursuing that mission, we discovered something important. Families from many backgrounds across America face remarkably similar stewardship challenges. Heirs' property, unclear succession, and the absence of trusted guidance are not limited to one community. They are human challenges.
Today, ACRES KEPT serves families everywhere who seek to preserve land, protect legacy, and build generations. Our platform combines education, thoughtful technology, trusted relationships, and personalized guidance to help families move forward with confidence.
Families remain in control every step of the way.
The history that inspired ACRES KEPT cannot be changed.
The future it helps families build can.
